Microgreens vs sprouts

Sprouts are germinated seeds eaten whole. Microgreens are harvested above the soil line with developed leaves and stems.

Pea shoot microgreens harvested above the root at SPRILO

Sprouts are germinated seeds grown in water and eaten whole — seed, root, and shoot. They are typically ready in a few days and stay pale because they grow without soil or much light.

Microgreens are grown in a medium, given light, and harvested above the soil line once leaves have formed. The flavour is more developed: nutty sunflower, sweet pea shoots, peppery radish.

SPRILO only grows microgreens, not sprouts. Every pack is cut from trays in our indoor setup and packed for city delivery.
